The BOBSA Organization

The BOBSA organization offers many benefits that reflect the reason BOBSA exists. Foremost, BOBSA “Connects the Black Dots” nationally and internationally, by connecting manufacturers to black beauty supply stores, to salons, to the black Cosmetologist and ultimately to the entire Black community.

Networking and participation opportunities exist at BOBSA with ongoing roundtables, conferences, trade shows, seminars, and workshops. Co-op buying allows hair salons and beauty supply stores to cost-effectively acquire merchandise for their businesses. As the organization grows, new benefits, such as group medical insurance, are being offered to members.

Hello Sam,

My name is Ken Bryan, and I live here in London, England. Iam 41 years and have lived in London all my life. Both my parents are from Jamaica and came to London back in the fifties.

I have been involved in the buying and selling of black beauty products for the past five years. I purchase a range of products from local wholesalers (Asian Owned) and sell to the West Indian and African Communities.

Iam keen to expand my business and become involved in BOBSA as an active member promoting and representing your organisation here in the United Kingdom. We have similar problems here in the United Kingdom, especially in London, where the industry is dominated by Indian businesses, and is very differcult for black owned beauty supply businesses to start up and become established.

Therefore, I would be grateful for any help and advise you can offer me on how to start-up and establish a store here in London. Also if you could put me in touch with any other members based here in England.

Aron Ranen documentary 'Black Hair' shocked and surprised me, and I believe it is about time that black people both in the United States and here in England became more business aware and start supporting our own black communities and businesses.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Ken Bryan
