Jane Carter

Beginning her career as a hairstylist and salon owner, Jane started her hair care line, Jane Carter Solution, after experiencing an allergic reaction to the chemicals in traditional hair care products.

With a goal to create chemical free hair care products, Jane started experimenting with natural ingredients and plants to create a product that was suitable for all natural hair types. In 1992, she launched her product line, which has now expanded to become a nationally recognized brand that includes 23 products sold online and in major retail stores such as Target and Whole Foods.

 

Not one to shy away from sharing the secrets to her success, Jane was also recruited as a speaker at Black Enterprise’s 2014 Women of Power Summit, where she spoke about how she built her brand from the ground up.

Congratulations, BOBSA!

The Nzuri Community Hero of the Year Award recognizes Top Leaders in the Black Hair Community that promote economic empowerment, natural hair health and beauty through safe practices. The finalists in this category were nominated and voted on by their peers.

The awards gala was held Friday, December 12 at the Houston NRG Center Hall A (right outside the home of the Nzuri 2014 Festival).
